El Morabba3

El Morabba3 (Arabic for “The Square”) is an alternative rock band from Amman, Jordan, formed in 2009 and among the defining acts of the Arab independent rock scene. Built around founder Mohammad Abdallah, who sings, writes, and plays bass, the group has moved through a rotating cast of musicians over the years, with producer and sound artist Basel Naouri a key collaborator. Their self-titled 2012 debut captured the restless mood of a generation living through the region’s upheavals, pairing brooding indie-rock with pointed, politically charged lyrics. A second album, Taraf Al Khait, followed in 2016 and widened their sound. More recently the band relocated from Amman to Berlin, where Abdallah and Naouri have been steering its music toward new territory.
