Karima Nayt

Karima Nayt is an Algerian singer, dancer, and actress, a graduate of the National Conservatory of Algiers who began her career in dance and theatre. In 1998 she moved to Cairo, becoming a soloist with the Cairo Opera House’s modern dance company and singing with Grammy-winning composer Fathy Salama’s group Sharkiat. Since leaving Cairo in 2007 she has worked mostly in Europe, releasing her debut album Quoi d’Autre in 2012, which won best CD at the Swedish Folk and World Music Awards. Her work moves between contemporary song, dance, and a politically engaged sensibility.
