Abd El Basset Hamouda

Abd El Basset Hamouda is an Egyptian shaabi singer, born in Alexandria in 1960, who began performing at weddings and religious gatherings in and around his hometown. He built a nationwide following through popular singles later gathered into albums, releasing his second album in 1996 and many more successful records since. His music blends traditional shaabi with modern and electronic influences, with lyrics rooted in everyday life and social themes. He has also appeared as an actor in film and television.
