Lekhfa is a collaborative project by three leading figures of Egypt’s independent scene: singer Maryam Saleh, composer and producer Maurice Louca, and multi-instrumentalist Tamer Abu Ghazaleh. Their 2017 album Lekhfa built an off-kilter, experimental sound around the dystopian poetry of Mido Zoheir, treated as a fourth member of the project. The music moves between traditional Arabic elements, rock, chaabi, and electronics, shifting from discordant tension to hypnotic beauty. It was mixed by Khyam Allami and became a landmark of contemporary alternative Arabic music.
