Biography
Yasmine Hamdan is a Lebanese singer and songwriter, born in Beirut in 1976 and now based in Paris. She first gained attention in the late 1990s with Soapkills, the pioneering Beirut electronic duo she formed with Zeid Hamdan, before moving into solo work that blends Arabic songwriting with indie and electronic textures. Singing largely in colloquial Arabic across a range of regional dialects, she has built an international following through albums such as Ya Nass (2013) and Al Jamilat (2017), and has also acted in film, notably Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive. In 2025 she returned with I Remember I Forget, her first album in eight years, exploring themes of memory and displacement.

In 2025 Yasmine Hamdan released I Remember I Forget, her first solo album since 2017's Al Jamilat. Shaped by the pandemic, Lebanon's economic collapse, and the Beirut port explosion, the record explores memory and displacement.
