fayrouz Karawya

Fayrouz Karawya is an Egyptian singer, songwriter and record producer known for pushing the boundaries of Arabic song through unconventional lyrical and musical fusions. She made her debut in 2001 with a song in the film Asrar el-Banat, then released the album Barra Menny in 2012, followed by Eskimo in 2014 and Albak Zeham in 2015. Alongside her music she is a cultural researcher and author, holding a master’s degree from the American University in Cairo and a doctorate from the Sorbonne, and has published books on the cultural history of Egyptian music.
