Biography
Bu Kolthoum is a Syrian rapper and producer, born Mounir Bu Kolthoum in Damascus in 1991. He is known for pairing dark, sample-driven boom-bap production with introspective, socially conscious lyricism that often reflects on the Syrian conflict, displacement and exile. His stage name nods to both Umm Kulthum and the pre-Islamic poet-warrior Amr ibn Kulthum. He released his debut full-length album in 2024.
