Maryam Saleh

Maryam Saleh is an Egyptian singer, songwriter and actress and a luminary of the country’s alternative music scene, born in 1985 to the theater director and critic Saleh Saad. Performing since childhood, she became one of the foremost interpreters of Sheikh Imam’s repertoire and founded the band Baraka in 2008 to explore psychedelic rock. Her music fuses shaabi and folk traditions with fearless, innovative arrangements. In 2017 she broadened her international profile with Lekhfa, a acclaimed collaboration with Maurice Louca and Tamer Abu Ghazaleh.
