The Wanton Bishops

The Wanton Bishops are a Lebanese blues rock band formed in Beirut in 2011, built around frontman Nader Mansour and guitarist Eddy Ghossein. Their sound fuses gritty Delta blues, rock, and soul with psychedelic textures and Middle Eastern colours, drawing on influences from Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters to Led Zeppelin and The Black Keys. Their 2012 debut album, Sleep With The Lights On, established their raw, riff-driven style, after which Mansour travelled through the American South to trace the roots of Mississippi blues and expand the band’s musical vision. They followed it with the 2016 album Nowhere Everywhere, which pushed further into psychedelic and Middle Eastern territory, layering oud and other traditional instruments into a saturated rock sound. After a period apart, the band reunited in 2025 to tour Europe and release new material under the banner Under The Sun.
