Meen

Meen is a Lebanese rock band from Beirut, founded in 2006 by brothers Fouad and Toni Yammine. They are known for a humorous, sarcastic style and for singing in colloquial Lebanese rather than Modern Standard Arabic, often folding in the English and French words that pepper everyday Lebanese speech. Musically the band is rooted in Western rock and blues, occasionally coloured by oriental instruments such as the buzuq, oud, and riq, with lyrics that cast a satirical eye on Lebanese politics and daily life. Meen was the first Lebanese band to release its catalogue under a Creative Commons license, and its releases include the albums ‘3arouset Bkeseen’ (2011) and ‘Rishineh Bel Kalash’ (2016).
