Massar Egbari is an Egyptian alternative rock band founded in Alexandria in 2005. Their name, meaning Compulsory Detour, reflects a focus on social critique, and their sound blends rock, jazz and blues with Oriental music. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Hany El Dakkak, the band has toured across Europe and the Mediterranean and become one of Egypt’s longest-running independent rock acts.
