Biography
Ibrahim Maalouf is a French-Lebanese trumpeter, composer, and arranger, born in Beirut in 1980 and raised in Paris. He performs on a four-valve quarter-tone trumpet invented by his father, Nassim Maalouf, which lets him play the microtonal intervals of Arabic maqam alongside Western harmony. Trained first as an award-winning classical player, he became one of the most popular and prolific figures in French jazz, fusing Arabic melody with jazz, pop, funk, and film music across a vast catalogue of albums and soundtracks. In 2022 he became the first Lebanese instrumentalist nominated for a Grammy, for Queen of Sheba with Angelique Kidjo, and has since earned a second nomination. He remains a major international touring artist whose work bridges Eastern and Western traditions on some of the world’s largest stages.

Ibrahim Maalouf tours Trumpets of Michel-Ange Vol. 2 in 2026
After two consecutive Grammy nominations, Maalouf released Trumpets of Michel-Ange Vol. 2 and is touring it through 2026, including a six-city UK run in June and a homecoming concert in Beirut in July, ahead of a planned 2027 headline show at Paris La Defense Arena.
