Yuma is a Tunisian acoustic folk duo, formed in 2015, pairing two voices and a guitar into a minimalist folk world sung in Tunisian dialect. The group blends local inspirations with western, almost Celtic melodies and hints of blues. Their breakthrough came with the song Smek and a 2016 performance at the Hammamet festival, one of Tunisia’s most important music events, and their debut album Chura was a critical and popular success. Their name comes from a Cherokee word meaning ally.
