Sandmoon

Sandmoon is a Beirut-based indie band founded in 2010 by the Belgian-Lebanese, Armenian-rooted singer-songwriter Sandra Arslanian. Their sound blends folk and indie-pop with subtle Middle Eastern intonations, melancholy melodies, and occasional electronic textures. Their 2022 album While We Watch the Horizon Sink drew on the upheavals of recent Lebanese life, from the 2019 protests and the pandemic to the Beirut port explosion. Arslanian, who leads the band on vocals and keys, describes her music as a reflection of her mixed Armenian, Lebanese, and Belgian identity.
