Youmna Saba is a Lebanese musician, composer and musicologist, born in Beirut and now based in Paris, whose research centres on the resonance of instruments and space. Her album Wishah builds minimalist pieces for voice, oud and electronics, using a digital extension of the oud she developed to surface subtle sounds like string resonance and fingerboard friction. She blurs the line between acoustic and processed sound, treating language and breath as raw material. She is a singular figure in the region’s experimental scene.
